Background Pattern

Centripetal CleanINTERNET®

We are constantly reminded that cybersecurity is about perspective. In technical terms, this is often described as the “attack surface”. The more perspectives you can protect, the more secure your network becomes.

Enter the Centripetal CleanINTERNET® platform.

Centripetal is best described as an intelligence-driven cybersecurity company. Their platform aggregates and normalizes threat intelligence from hundreds of global sources to build a continuously updated database of indicators of compromise (IOCs). This intelligence is operationalized in near real time and enforced at the network edge.

What makes this approach unique is where and how enforcement occurs.

Centripetal’s solution is deployed in front of the firewall, between your network and the internet. Instead of waiting for threats to enter the environment and then detecting or responding to them, it blocks known threats before they ever reach the security stack.

This is done using a high-performance appliance (the RuleGATE®) that evaluates network traffic against large-scale threat intelligence datasets. Because the system focuses on intelligence enforcement rather than deep inspection and analysis, it is able to operate at extremely high speeds with minimal latency.

Importantly, this is not a replacement for a firewall—it’s a complementary control. Traditional firewalls are responsible for functions such as network address translation (NAT), deep packet inspection, intrusion detection/prevention, and application awareness. However, those capabilities come with processing overhead and cannot efficiently apply massive volumes of threat intelligence at line speed.

Centripetal fills that gap.

By continuously enforcing large volumes of high-confidence threat intelligence, the platform helps reduce the amount of malicious traffic that ever reaches downstream systems. This can meaningfully reduce alert noise, logging volume, and workload on firewalls, SIEMs, and security teams.

Another key advantage is visibility into outbound risk.

Many traditional network security models are primarily focused on preventing inbound access. However, modern attacks frequently originate from inside the network—often through compromised users or endpoints. Once inside, attackers attempt to establish outbound connections to command-and-control infrastructure.

Centripetal addresses this by applying the same intelligence controls to outbound traffic. If a system attempts to connect to a known malicious destination, that traffic can be blocked before the connection is established.

The result is a more balanced and proactive security posture—one that protects both ingress and egress traffic using real-time threat intelligence.

If cybersecurity is truly about covering as many perspectives as possible, this is a layer worth considering.  Sound interesting?  Send us a note at a Complete to learn more: charles.veth@complete.net.
